An Executives Responsibility To Society

Robert F. Kennedy. "The problem of power is how to achieve its responsible use rather than its irresponsible and indulgent use - of how to get men of power to live for the public rather than off the public." [Motivational Quotes of the Day]

Executives create power for themselves through the opportunities they create for others. These relationships bring together the best talent available to serve certain wants of a customer. Through this participation with society, you have a responsibility to that society to solve problems, improve relationships, and sustain growth.

As an executive, it is your responsibility to bring people together in such a way that it solves social problems faced by employees and customers, as much as it removed limitations on progress. When social issues for employees and customers are removed, they are more free to exchange goods for the services of your organization. They will also more readily respect your influence.

You should effectively manage an organization for steady long-term growth, not just your own personal gain. Look to the "8 relationship realms" to first build a solid foundation in your own abilities, then a reasonable economic base in the communities your company is located. Working outward you improve the relationships around you while demonstrating to these individuals how to do the same.

Cultivate the talent you need in the employees you already have, don't be seduced into promoting the bottom-line where it would be an economic disadvantage to your people. As an executive, you have a responsibility to those who work for you today, provide stability to them in exchange for certain necessary services.

Stability comes through ethical management, producing enough profit and use sustainable business practices. Use your powers in a responsible manner or you will lose them. As your sphere of influence experiences your commitment to better those around you, the bonds that hold them close will grow in quality.
